I cannot say I've had a friend in recent memory. ( the goldweaver and the rest of the members of the flame chase journey are coworkers, companions, teachers. his friends died one by one, seeking honor in combat or ashamed of their lack of glory, and left a newly homeless, crownless prince, nineteen year old man to find his way forward alone. and phainon is-- he is... he is simply phainon. so he doesn't particularly know how to be friends with someone. ) It is not a matter of shame, Miss Elysia. Someone like myself is not made for kindness and tenderness; as a Kremnoan, as the Demigod of Strife, and as the Guardian of Amphoreus, it is beyond my reach. But you shouldn't concern yourself over the reality of my fate. I've made my peace with it.
( in another life, in the next one, there might be time for such things. mydei doesn't know yet that even then it will be beyond him: he will become the titan of strife, and he will never have the chance to simply live, to curate a library and simply be whoever he might decide he wishes to be. but, should he know that, he will also know this: it changes nothing. he will keep moving forward, keep doing his duty until the last, until even his sanity is torn from him.
mydeimos will stand tall, stride forth, and be that pillar and wall for those that will come after. to let phainon hold up the world and usher in the new era. )
